What Alexa Built-In Does

Alexa Built-In* brings you help inside your vehicle and lets you easily get assistance with many activities simply by using your properly equipped, available SYNC® 4 system with enhanced voice recognition. Go ahead and make a call, check the weather, interact with your smart-home devices, make a shopping list, ask for a joke — all from your vehicle. Plus, add available Ford Premium Connectivity and listen to music and podcasts too.

Which Vehicles Are Receiving This Software Update

In version 3, the following vehicle models will receive Alexa Built-In:

  • 2021 Ford F-150® and newer
  • 2021 Ford Bronco®
  • 2021 Ford Mustang® Mach-E® and newer
  • 2021 Ford Edge®
  • 2021 Lincoln Nautilus®
  • 2022 Ford F-250®

Please note this is a phased rollout and not all owners will receive these updates at the same time. Check the FordPass® App** or your in-vehicle settings for your latest software updates.

Where You Can Find Alexa Built-In in Your Vehicle

You’ll know it’s time to activate Alexa when the icon appears on your SYNC® 4/4A screen. Just click on the Alexa icon and follow the steps to register. Remember, your vehicle must have Enhanced Voice Recognition and an activated modem. And you’ll need an Amazon account, of course.

*Eligible vehicles receiving Alexa Built-in via a Ford Power-Up software update over the air, receive three years of complimentary access to Alexa Built-in, which begins upon completion of the software update. A 30-day complimentary trial of Ford Premium Connectivity begins upon completion of the software update. Access to Alexa Built-in requires an Amazon account, SYNC® 4 Technology with enhanced voice recognition (available on select vehicles), and FordPass® Connect activated through the FordPass App (see FordPass Terms for details). Some Alexa Built-in features require Ford Premium Connectivity service plan or Wi-Fi network. Connected service and features depend on compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. FordPass® App, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available via a download. Message and data rates may apply.
